Amazing work (better than I wanted or expected), timely, showed up with three people because the job was bigger than anticipated and was very reasonably priced! I need more work done so I'm calling tomorrow. Also, my contractor was so impressed with their work, he asked for business cards to hand out!

Adam Ryder - Saskatoon, SK

I have referred Essential Power Inc. to two clients that both have expressed their satisfaction with the work and value received from Anne Marie Howie. Thanks for doing a great job and making it easy to refer your company!

Darcy Thiesen, Boyes Group - Saskatoon, SK

Anne-Marie went above and beyond with her inspection to ensure our safety. Her attention to detail and her compassion is beyond what anyone else would provide. I would highly recommend anyone who needs an electrician to contact her.

Sheri Boreski - Saskatoon, SK

Anne- Marie installed our electrics in our basement.
She was dependable, arrived when she said she was coming, tidying all her mess as she worked and was very helpful with any information we asked.
Would certainly have her again.

John and Christine - Homeowners - Saskatoon SK

Anne-Marie was very prompt in her communication when I contacted her. She put in a new breaker but recommended that we change out the panel due to the age. She was very accommodating to squeeze in our immediate fix, and later come back and do all full panel replacement at a reasonable cost. I will keep Anne-Marie's number on file for future rental property repairs.

Lynn Sproule - Rental Property Owner - Saskatoon SK

Anne-Marie is the only electrician I would recommend to friends and family. She is trustworthy, knowledgeable and experienced. She has great insight into home renovations and can help lead your project through to completion. Highly recommended!

Colin Syverson - Saskatoon SK

Tips and Tricks

#diysafetytip

Should you have any tips that you feel would be useful to others, please feel free to message, so that I can pass them along

#diysafetytip No 1

Fixture Installation tip

All light fixtures come with a little packet of accessories needed to complete the installation. The little orange marrettes that they supply are not good quality. They tend to be too small to hold the number of wires, and too short, so that they expose copper that could cause arcing behind the fixture. Please stop at a local building store and pick up a small pack of the blue (or yellow) marrettes with the wings. It will save you a lot of frustration and possibly prevent a fire hazard.

#diysafetytip No 2

Switches and Receptacles

Switches and receptacles can be easy to replace. But there is one major tip that could save a fire hazard in your home. Although there are little holes on the backs of these devices that can fit a wire and "compress" it, this is not a safe practice. Wires can easily come loose over time, causing either loss of poser to devices in the area or arcing (possible fire). We strongly advise that you strip the end of the wire a little longer, and loop it around the screw clockwise. This will ensure a tight connection and safe home. On a related note, should you find aluminum wiring or knob and tube, please call an electrician for advice.

#diysafetytip No 3

Common 3Way Switch Errors

When wiring a 3way switch (2 switch locations for one light), it is best to see what wire goes to what screw before removing the original one. You will notice that one of the three screws is a different color. This is known as the common screw, and it is very important that the wire going to to it is the same wire going to the common on the new switch. The other two "traveller" wires don't need to be in any certain order, they just go to the other screws. Remembering to check your wires will save a trip from us! Please let us know if you have any safety tips that we can make sure to share

#diysafetytip No 4

Ligh Bulb Choices

We know that there are so many choices when it comes to light bulbs! ⚠️⚠️When purchasing light bulbs it has come to our attention that some brands are NOT as good as others ! ⚠️⚠️ They can be dangerous! Extremely HOT🔥, they burn out fast and cause flickering! Try to purchase mid priced bulbs for a better quality. I have attached a power comparison chart to add to the site as well. I will be selling Glowstone lighting starting this month, and they will be sending me a link to their website for me. As soon as I have it I will forward it to you with a temporary picture to use until I get them installed on my house. #diysafetytip Always step to the side of a panel and do not look directly at it when resetting a tripped breaker. There is a possiblity that an electrical flash could occur and you want to be out of the way. Also make sure that you are wearing rubber soled shoes and your other hand is safely at your side. If the breaker will not remain on, please call an electrician to replace it.
